Meditation: Benefits You Can’t Miss!
I get asked a lot of questions about meditation. It’s become all the rage recently and is often associated with yoga, hippies, and Buddhism. Before you dismiss meditation completely, take some time to learn about its many benefits. Starting with only 5 minutes a day, it can help you release stress, fears and will help you on your journey to creating a Body and life you love.
Meditation is all about relaxation. It’s about being completely at ease and letting your mind and body release the stresses of everyday life. It’s about letting go and truly understanding that you can’t control everything that happens in your life. That’s what makes meditation an excellent practice if you’ve been overly stressed or tired. Taking a few minutes a day to do meditation will revitalize and refocus you.
However, meditation isn’t just about relaxation. Studies have shown that doing meditation, even for a few minutes a day, can have many health benefits, too. So far, it’s been shown to lower blood pressure, which is also a sign of de-stressing. And, as blood pressure lowers, your heart rate will also slow down, calming you and putting you in an almost palliative state.
As you begin to spend time meditating, you’ll start to notice you have less anxiety and tension. And these will begin to show their effects on your body, as well. You blood circulation will improve and your cortisol levels will decrease. Some people have even found that they perspire less after continuous meditation. The same research found that people who meditated reported a better sense of well-being, both physically and emotionally.
Studies are also being done on the longer term results from meditation. People who have been meditating for most of their lives are being studied to see if their physical and mental health is better than those who do not. So far these studies have found that brain functions are increased in meditators. Also, those who meditate daily don’t get as sick as those who do not partake of meditation.
